𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝟏𝟓 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐥:
𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Foreign residents in Portugal enjoy the same rights and responsibilities as Portuguese citizens in various aspects of social, economic, and cultural life, as long as they hold valid residency permits.
𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬: Legal residents, under Article 15, have access to social security benefits, including unemployment benefits, family allowances, maternity and paternity leave, and other welfare benefits.
𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬: Residents under this provision can access Portugal’s National Health Service (SNS) under the same conditions as Portuguese citizens.
𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Foreign children residing in Portugal have the right to access public education at all levels under the same conditions as Portuguese students.
Legal Protection: Foreign nationals benefit from the same protections under Portuguese law as citizens, including protection from discrimination.
𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬:
𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐦 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲: After five years of legal residence, foreign nationals can apply for permanent residency, which offers broader rights, such as freedom of movement within the European Union.
𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Article 15 supports the right to family reunification, allowing foreign residents to bring immediate family members to Portugal under certain condition.
