FREE TRANSPORT IN LISBON, Portugal

Highlight that Lisbon is the first European city to take such an initiative. Portugal is progressing daily and coming up with new additions to facilitate its residents. A further step has been initiated by the Transport Department of the Metropolitan City of Lisbon management, i.e., providing free transport for some below-mentioned age groups.

This project cost around 15 million Euros.

In the first phase, it is free for Lisbon residents who are 65 years and above. While in the 2nd phase, which will start in September, those students residing in Lisbon and until the age of 23 can use public transport free of charge. Municipality considers this as their goal for environmental sustainability.
